Roy Halladay is calling it a career, and he’s going out as a Toronto Blue Jay.
According to a report from CBS’s John Heyman, the Blue Jays will announce a one-day contract with Halladay at the Winter Meetings today so the 36-year-old can retire as a member of the team.
Halladay spent 12 seasons with the Blue Jays, where he was named an AL All-Star six times and won the 2003 Cy Young Award.
The former first-rounder was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies ahead of the 2010 season where he spent the last four years of his career, winning the NL Cy Young in 2010.
Halladay will retire with 203 wins in 390 starts with a 3.38 ERA and 2,117 strikeouts.
Halladay also recorded 67 complete games and 20 shutouts in his 16 seasons in the Major Leagues.
