Almost anyone that’s from Toronto knows how much of an influence Drake has in our city. Drake is proud of being from the 6ix and definitely isn’t afraid to make reference to our city in his music. He recently dropped a new song called “Summer Sixteen,” and just hearing it already has me looking forward to this summer in Toronto. Since I love using Drake references so much, here are some that a lot of us can relate to in the summer time. Oh, and if you haven’t heard his recent track yet, this is it:
“I live for the nights that I can’t remember, with the people that I won’t forget”
This is one of my favourite references from a Drake track. There’s really no better feeling than being surrounded by your squad and forgetting all of your troubles for a good night in the summer time.
“K*** rolled, glass full, I prefer the better things”
We all prefer the better things..pretty self explanatory!
“Running through the 6ix with my woes!”
Grab your woes and run through the streets of Toronto this summer! Okay, don’t actually run because people might think something is wrong..but definitely explore the 6ix with your friends this summer, walk the streets, go to new bars, try new restaurants.
“You know its real when your latest nights are your greatest nights/ The sun is up when you get home, that’s just a way of life.”
Going out late and coming home at dawn is when you know you’ve had a good night, Drake is definitely right about this one.
“Tables turn, bridges burn, you live and learn”
Not everything’s always pretty and smooth, you learn lessons from the good and the not so good. Every summer is a learning experience.
Here’s to Summer Sixteen!
