Way Home Festival: You’ll Never Want to Leave

Way Home Festival is going to make it hard for you to go back to life before its existence. Way Home Festival is July 24-26 and people are already counting down the days. Way Home campgrounds open at 11am and close at 2am. The festival is at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds and this year’s headliners are Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Alt-J, Modest Mouse, Hozier and expect literally 100 other artists. There are four stages and you’ll probably have to choose between seeing some of your favorites that are performing at the same time.

Way Home founders describe the experience as “what happens when different and interesting people come together.” There’s music, art, food, impeccable campgrounds and the only thing missing is you. I’m going to just leave the link for the tickets here because by the end of the post you’re going to want tickets now.

On July 24th Hozier takes the stage. Hozier is known for his hit “Take Me to Church” that blew up on the radio when it dropped last year. For the longest no one knew him but everyone knew his song. He has a raw soulful story-telling voice and very commanding stage presence so expect nothing less of a good show for his performance.

On the 25th just expect your inner child to take over because there will be so much energy around the campgrounds. Kendrick Lamar, Modest Mouse, G-Eazy, Big Krit, and SZA are all set to perform. Rapper Kendrick Lamar is known  for his hits “Swimming Pools,” “Poetic Justice” and “i.” His debut album “good kid, m.A.A.d city” dropped in 2012 and soon after it dropped was certified platinum. Every performance he gives is as if he is still a hungry artist trying to prove he’s here to stay.

You might not have a voice for Sam Smith on the 26th because you were way too busy rapping along with Kendrick and Krit. Sleep is definitely one of those things you will not be getting at such a festival. All you will do is scream and party and argue about trivial facts about your favorite performers. Make sure you drink lots of water because you’re going to need it on these campgrounds.

This year Way Home is offering festival goers the chance to buy single day VIP tickets and people are excited. These tickets offer exclusive food and wine offerings brought to you by The Drake Hotel. Also offerings like five star amenities, better bathrooms, complimentary shade and showers and you get to view the concert from a private raised platform. VIP Tickets can be purchased here.

Also this year there’s a daily farmers market, Way Home Etsy store, silent disco, hiking, biking and unique food and drinks. This isn’t your usual festival. This is an experience worth every penny. You’re not going to want to go home when it’s all over but you’re going to be glad you made it. You and your friends are going to talk about Way Home for years to come. There’s no wonder why Way Home is dubbed one of the best festivals in Toronto.
