For the fifth year in a row Downsview park was the host to one of the biggest and best EDM music festivals in Canada. Veld 2016 took place this past weekend on July 30th and 31st, and was definitely a whirlwind of a weekend. The festival is presented by INK entertainment and showcases some of the most epic DJ’s in the world. This year had a huge turnout and the thousands of people who attended came to rave hard. Veld had two stages, the main stage and the terra stage. Both of the stages had different DJ’s with different sounds playing at the same time. The lineup of DJ’s for both days were on point and the party didn’t stop from the time the gates opened and until the last set ended. The only complaint I have about Veld is that it went by too fast! I think we can all agree that there was something extra special about Veld this year.
Day one was beautiful, the sun was shining all day long and it was a great day to be outdoors and party under the sun and stars. Attlas, Loud Luxury, Galantis, Yellowclaw, Jai Wolf, Duke Dumont, Steve Aoki, DVVBS, Flume, and the final performer Deadmau5 were just some of the amazing DJ’s who took to the stage on the first day! The crowd brought the energy and the sounds and lightshows from the day were unforgettable.
Veld also had lots of fun activities to do, there was a Ferris wheel, water slides, and plenty of other games and activities to take part in while at the festival. The grounds were also filled with food/drink trucks, water stations, and grass to just hangout and chill.
Day two may have started off on a rainy note but that didn’t stop the festival go-ers or the party. The show still went on and the weather cleared up for the rest of an awesome day. On day two some of the DJ’s who took the stage included: Mark Oliver, Ilan Bluestone, Dzeko and Torres, Post Malone, The Chainsmokers, Kygo, and the closing act Martin Garrix.
Let’s talk about the crowd for a moment… The people who attend Veld Music Festival were what made the festival what it is. They bring the energy, they bring the good vibes. Beautiful men and woman were all around spreading nothing but love. One of the best possible things about attending a music festival like Veld is that everyone becomes united, even though it’s a crowd of complete strangers. Music brings people together and EDM has this special way of taking that “together-ness” to a whole other level.
Veld 2016 was unforgettable and we can’t wait to see what next year has in store…
