Standing outside with your gloves on and shivering as you check your phone you come to the realization that it’s still winter unfortunately. We’re thinking warm thoughts and we’re totally over the idea of winter. Never fear, we rounded up ten of our favorite things we can’t wait to do in the spring.
1. High Park Cherry Blossom Season
Come April into May the cherry trees start to blossom in High Park Hillside Gardens. See them bloom and go early for the best view because it tends to get a bit packed if you wait on it.
2. Go to a Spring Food Festival
Rather it’s the Vegan Festival or Festival of Beer, there’s a food festival for everyone in the spring. Stay tuned to Love This City for all the food festivals. We promise your taste buds will thank you.
3. Farmer’s Markets
It’s been quite a while since we’ve been to one because of all the snow but in case you forgot, there’s well over thirty farmer’s markets. Get local produce and sweets at your local market.
4. Baseball
Play ball! Spring means baseball. Tickets to a Toronto Blue Jays game can be a bit pricey but it’ll give you an excuse to gather your friends and hit a local sports bar to catch a game over great beers and great food.
5. Fireworks on Victoria Day
Take in fireworks all over Toronto to celebrate the Queen’s birthday and to usher in the summer. You would have a harder time not finding fireworks on such a day.
6. Celebrate St. Patty’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day may be in celebration of Irish heritage but everyone has a great time getting in on all the green fun. There will be lots of green beer and many events to check out, from bar crawls to parties you will not be bored come St. Patrick’s Day.
7. Run a Marathon
Get fit for your favorite charity rather it’s a mud run or just an old fashioned marathon, clear your head and run like the wind. Now a days there’s a marathon for everything.
8. Check Out Art
Between the Kensington Market Art Festival and Liberty Village Art Crawl there’s definitely art to be checked out in the spring.
9. Visit the Islands
Of course we’re talking about Toronto Islands. Every year Electric Island hosts epic outdoor parties on the Island and they’re always one for the books.
10. Vintage Shop Crawl
The Toronto Vintage Crawl is a good time. April 30th shop until you drop and pick up vintage items at different Toronto vintage shops and enjoy beer and snacks along the way. They had us at shop quite frankly.
We’re looking forward to some sunshine, some food trucks and spring in general means that the pool season is near. What’s your favorite thing for spring? Have you gotten Cabin Fever yet?
