Top Free Events To Check Out In Toronto

You might run out of money (We really hope you don’t!), but there is hardly a chance that you will run out of free events to check out in Toronto. With the Pan Am games beginning soon, there are a lot of events related to it, but you won’t be limited to events that are just a part of Pan Am games. Here is a list of events you can check out absolutely free!

Absorb history and culture

You can head over to the Distillery History District in Downtown Toronto to explore the unique heritage architecture which is also home to one of the largest collection of the Victorian Industrial Architecture. With no modern franchises to be found anywhere here, every store and gallery that you will be visiting will be unique in its own way.

You could also wander to the St. Lawrence Market. Made up of three historic buildings that comprise of a food market, an antique market, and an open public space, the St. Lawrence Market has been voted one of the world’s top 25 markets by the Food & Wine magazine.

Geek out at Digital Innovation Hubs

Let your inner geek out and watch equipment, such as 3D printers, Raspberry Pis, photography equipment, and more in action. You could also drop in at the Toronto Public Library and check out the equipments they have and register free for some of the classes that they provide.

Pan Am Games Events

With the Pan Am Games just around the corner, there will be a lot to do and a lot of events that you can catch for free. Do visit the gallery at Commerce Course West created by artist Robert Young. Titled the Young World Faces of Pan Am, 41 large scale portraits of all 41 participating countries will be displayed in this gallery.Toronto 2015 Pan Am

Panamania Live will be held at Nathan Philips Square and will feature performances of artists from all over the world, and among them will be Serena Ryder, Wyclef Jean, Mariana’s Trench, among others.

Also, Nathan Philip Square will showcase the documentary series titled Everyday Ambassadors. Brought to you by Verity Creative Inc., this documentary series features locals who have migrated from Pan American countries.

Visit an art exhibition

Every Wednesday from 6 pm to 8:30 pm you can check out the Art Gallery at Ontario for free. It is a favourite among Torontonians and for good reason too. There will be over hundred exhibits from about ten Pan Am countries to coincide with the Pan Am games so make sure you visit it during this time of the year.

Make your lunch breaks the high point of your day by visiting the Canadian Opera Company that holds free performances during lunch hours. Apart from opera, they also entertain you with jazz, vocal, piano and world music.
