Summerlicious Food Festival

A festivity for all culinary enthusiasts, the Summerlicious food festival is well-known around several countries. As a matter of fact, it is said that people crave for a taste of this anniversary, travelling in from all over Canada. Generally taking place in July, Summerlicious is like a frenzied summer trend, spreading like wildfire each year.

If you thought this is a gathering of some sort, you could not be more wrong. During Summerlicious, about 150 or 200 restaurants offer fixed price lunch and dinner menus at a discount. Currently, the prices for lunch offers are $15, $20 or $25, while dinner offers cost $25, $35 or $45. However, you must keep in mind that these offers do not include drinks.

Although reservations need to be made, in case your favourite Summerlicious-participating bistro is full by the time the fiesta starts, walk-ins are sometimes accommodated too, depending on the situation. Marking its 13th year, the Summerlicious 2015 will start on the 3rd of July and it will end on the 19th of July. A restaurant receives permission to participate, only if they hold a bunch of great reviews, impressive standards of pricing, and a spotless record when it comes to health inspection checks.

Serving over 150,000 meals each year, the Summerlicious food festival will see countless eateries partaking, each specializing in a certain cuisine. Individuals who have an appetite of delish food could make reservations at many of those bistros at once. Having visited some of these joints last year, I have mentioned a select few below:

  • Parts and Labour: Far from being one of your main street, posh-looking restaurants, Parts and Labour used to be a hardware store, turned into a haven for meat-lovers. This eatery is perfect for all those who have a soft spot for comfort food.
  • Momofuku Noodle Bar: As the name suggests, this bistro is the place to go to if you are in a dire need of quality ramen that contains the goodness of pork shoulder, fish cake, and other ingredients. Not only is this Summerlicious-partaking restaurant cheap, it also has an ambience that will make you feel at home.
  • Pukka: A beginner in terms of participating in the fiesta, Pukka began its Summerlicious journey in 2014. Including a wine bar, this restaurant offers Indian food that demands to be wolfed down.
  • Café Boulud: A highly-sought eatery, Café Boulud is a source of exemplary French food.
  • 93 Harbord: Home of the famed lamb tangine, this eatery could be an option if you are seeking Middle Eastern or vegetarian cuisine.
