Summerdaze: Great Music, Good Vibes

summer daze festival toronto

“Sumemerdaze makes you wish we had long summers.” If you summed up the reviews on their Facebook page, this is the consensus about the summer long series focusing on local art and Toronto house music. Summerdaze is an organic festival celebrating good music over good drinks, good vibes and amazing food vendors from all over the city. If you don’t stay for the music, you’ll most definitely stay for the atmosphere. Sometimes these parties run all day long and into the night. They’re mostly known for picking their non-traditional venues to party and for 2015 they’re sticking to organic and non-traditional so expect the unexpected all summer long.

The series officially kicks off June 6th and 7th with the official opening weekend at Artscape Gibraltar Point. Expect at least five international headliners and eight local artists and all this on a beachfront. Artscape is the perfect venue housing dozens of art residents. There’s also forty-six acres of park and a private dock. There’s going to be so much creative energy in the air along with amazing music that you’ll forget about the chilly winter we just overcame. Summerdaze promises colorful events full of good vibes featuring local and international talent in beautiful places and they deliver. DJ Magazine rated their 2014 summer end party as one of the top parties to attend.

Summerdaze likes to introduce people to new places and that’s what makes these events stand out. Last year attendees had a wonderful view of the Canadian International Air Show from Fort York National Historic Site, which is an exclusive venue for Summerdaze. Other awesome venues include Kuda known for its rooftop bar. Gossip Restaurant and Patio is famous for their stunning gardens and fountains on CNE grounds. The Burroughes Building is a rooftop bar in the heart of the city. Cherry Street Bar stands out for it’s waterfront location. Last but not least, Keating Channel Pub, which actually has a patio that sits on the water.

If you’re not in awe at the simplicity and aesthetic of such nontraditional spaces, you’ll definitely be in awe at the headliners for the summer series. Past performers included Apollinia, Kim Ann Foxman, Justin James, Just Be, My Favorite Robot and DJ W!ld, just to name a few.

(Summer 2014 Recap)

Kim Ann Foxman had people glued to the dance floor last year. This year’s lineup is still under wraps but can you imagine what the summer is going to bring for this series? Promoters, and event planners that put their blood, sweat and tears into putting together these events believe in letting the music and art speak for itself and that’s a formula to value. Last year 1700 showed up to say goodbye to the summer 2014 series. Summerdaze is eventful enough to have people talking about it over the winter wishing it were summer again.  If you want in on the festivities you can purchase a ticket here but hurry because they’re selling out like crazy and you don’t want to be the only one not talking about Summerdaze. Other Summerdaze dates are June 26, July 26, August 16th, and more are popping up. To keep up to date with all things Summerdaze, stay tuned here at Love This City.
