In the winter, we complain that it’s too cold. In the summer (despite the majority of us Torontonians LOVING the sun), we complain that it’s too hot. Jeez, Toronto can’t win, can it? When it feels as though we live in the Arctic, Toronto’s people are constantly on the hunt for a warm coffee, but when we seem to be living in a city thats temperature is equivalent to that of the Great Basin Desert, all we want to do is throw back a few shots, chug a few beers or maybe enjoy a glass of red wine- the choice of which drinks to consume are dependent upon the person you are, of course. But, one thing that I can safely assume about the majority of you reading this article is that you all love alcohol. I mean, who doesn’t? So if my assumptions are correct in regards to you being an alcohol lover, you must check out the following four drinks that are most enjoyable in the summer time!

The Ballroom Bowl’s Long Island Iced tea
For those of you that have never been to The Ballroom Bowl (145 John Street), you should go. It’s a bar/club/restaurant that has so many things for you to enjoy- bowling alleys, dance floors, live music and most importantly, unreal drinks. In fact, they make a KILLER Long Island Iced tea… If you’re like me and hate the taste of alcohol (but love the effect), this drink is for you because it tastes like juice. It’s kind of like a diet coke with a hint of iced tea. That sounds gross, but trust me, it’s DAMN good!

7 Numbers’ sangria
Being a university student, my roommates and I get stressed out pretty often and sometimes feel the need to treat ourselves to a comforting pitcher of sangria. However, the sangria we drink in Waterloo does not compare to the sangria you can find at 7 Numbers (307 Danforth Ave). It’s fruity, yet not tooooooooo sweet, alcohol-tasting, yet juice-like and I know it doesn’t really matter, but it’s pretty as well! If you and your friends are ever walking around Greektown, you should make it a point to stop by this hot spot and order some sangria!
Madison Avenue Pub’s vodka with cranberry juice

If you’ve been keeping up with my articles, you’ve likely read my article on Madison Avenue Pub (14 Madison Avenue) already. If you are a frequent Maddy goer (and if you’re not, you should become one), and have yet to try their vodka with cranberry juice, my word- you’re missing out. Fortunately (for me), this popular drink also tastes like juice. Some places offer vodka with cranberry juice’s that taste like straight-up vodka, but not the Maddy! So, choose wisely regarding how many of these delicious drinks you consume… It will hit you later (I would know!).
Real Sports’ beer selection

I can’t lie, I hate beer (shoot me). It makes me feel 1000 lbs. heavier and to be quite blunt, it makes me rather gassy. So, I don’t drink beer. However, the lack of beer within me does not mean that I don’t know a thing or two about beer. I have lots of friends who love beer, but sometimes that becomes problematic because they have their own personal preferences when it comes to beer. But, this isn’t that crazy of an issue because there is a solution! What might that be? Well, this bar’s (15 York Street) beer selection is unreal. Why? Because they are known to have so many different beer taps to choose from. So, if you want one kind of beer or are open to many different types of beers, you should probably hit up Real Sports, but sadly- you are unlikely to see me there (because of my personal vendetta against beer).
So folks (did I really just say ‘folks’?), there you have it- the four best places in the 416 to be poisoned by alcohol! I’m just kidding, but please remember, if you decide to check out any of these places, you ARE drinking alcohol and the outcome is supposed to be fun, not disastrous! Enjoy the drinks I mentioned and hopefully I will see you at all of these places this summer (minus one).
Thanks for reading!
