“If the owner of the Molson Amphitheatre is here, I should just buy it because I already own it.” That’s the mentality that Drake approaches OVO Fest with every year. He takes it upon himself to take over the city of Toronto with all things October’s Very Own (OVO) and rap music. On average 40,000 people flock to OVO Festival to see the festivities firsthand.
Last year’s OVO Fest was legendary and included acts like Lauryn Hill, Trey Songz, Usher and 50 Cent. With headliners like G-Unit and Outkast it’s going to be incredible to see Drake top that.

Drake is going to try to top last year’s festival and what better way to do so than adding another day! OVO Fest is now three days long and comedian Kevin Hart is kicking it off with a comedy show at the Air Canada Centre on August 1st. You can get those tickets here. Don’t expect to sleep doing these three days because you’ll be exposed to so much music and so much stardom that you won’t want to go home.
(J Cole “Apparently”)
Day two includes J.Cole’s “Forest Hills Drive” tour and he’s bringing Bis Sean, YG, Jeremih. Expect Dreamville’s Bas, Cozz and Omen to also be in tow. Roc Nation’s J.Cole’s is known for his poetic story telling and his versatile sound and there won’t be an empty seat in the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. I wouldn’t expect anything less from anyone signed to his Dreamville roster. Tickets for day two are already sold out! There’s no purchasing these ones from Ticketmaster.
On day three Drake will try to wow his city one last time before ending the festivities. OVO Fest isn’t a festival it’s a party and Drake always brings surprise guests so you’ll never know who’s going to end up on that stage. Few tickets are still available for day three so get them now. One year Kanye West even appeared shocking both Drake and the audience. That was the year Drake realized OVO Fest was bigger than him.
From August 1-3 expect the Molson Amphitheatre to look more like an awards show than a festival. You can expect pop up shops maybe even a celebrity basketball game or two. No one ever knows who Drake is going to bring on stage with him.
Drake is currently working on his “View from the 6” album. OVO Fest has gotten so big and so crazy that not only is it an extra day but Drake is in talks of adding another city to the OVO festivities within in the next two years. Earlier in the year Drake requested $300,000 to help fund the epic festival and he was denied but Ontario Music Fund recently stepped in and provided $45,000. So many people are going to be missing voices come August 4th from all the screaming they did at OVO Fest. You’re going to regret not buying the tickets when they sell out because they will. Just don’t be like this guy who accidentally bought 18 tickets instead of 4.
