On Sunday afternoon I got to speak with some of the ladies involved in Curvalicious Canada. They’re doing something pretty unique and that has never quite been done before so I decided to learn some more. Tracey Crosson, one of the ladies I spoke with, started Curvalicious Canada two years ago. She decided to create her business so that plus size women have fun and interactive places to socialize and where they really get to feel comfortable in their own skin. Tracey has been on a journey with getting her company going but she was excited to share with me that she is going to be travelling across Canada for her upcoming Curvalicious Competition. Tracey and her team are seeking out plus size women to be involved in a reality TV series, and a plus size 2017 calendar.
This model/ambassador search wants women who truly embrace what it means to be a confident plus size woman (no previous modelling experience is necessary). Her first stop is in Vancouver on March 1st, Tracey and her team will be making many more stops across the country ending in Windsor, Ontario. As a plus size woman, Tracey says it’s important that other plus size women respect themselves, feel good about their bodies, and truly love who they are.
Pantea, another lady I spoke to that afternoon, is the face of Curvalicious Canada and the founder of #luckytobecurvy. She decided to become involved with the competition to promote true body image confidence and acceptance. Pantea has told me being a plus size model in the industry she’s had her fair share of struggles, but that these struggles have made her the confident woman she is today. When I asked what body confidence means to her she said loving your body is a state of mind. Pantea says that how you see yourself is everything, and allows for you to love who you are no matter what shape or size.
