Igloofest Presents the Visual Artists who Light Up the Party While everyone is busy exploring Igloofest 2014’s bold musical programming and preparing their full January dancing schedule, today we spotlight those valuable creators who hang back in the shadows and prefer to make magic with the lights. Igloofest presents the visual artists who dazzle us throughout the festival with the immense sparkling canvas of the Sapporo stage. And speaking of flamboyant colors, we’re also sounding the horn for the return of the infamous “one-piece” snowsuit contest. The tradition of good taste still burns brightly at Igloofest! The Creators behind the Magical Moments You Never Forget The first thing that catches the eye upon arriving at the Igloofest site is the immensity of the visual projections surrounding the artists. Viewed from afar, the DJ booth fits squarely within the giant screen, and it’s this picture, in its entirety, that seizes dancers. According to the mood of the moment, audiences can choose to move in and sink into the visuals, or step back and appreciate the view as a whole. The visual artists may be discreet on site, but their magical uses of light are essential to the party and often set up those perfect, memorable moments that make someone’s Igloofest. Montreal is fortunate to be home to a very active community of electronic visual artists, and its members are honored far beyond our borders. Igloofest 2014’s admirable list of those confirmed to illuminate the Sapporo stage features Baya, Bobby Digital, Brille², Chocobeets, Data Dada, Diagraf, Gridspace, MA”, TIND, VJ Cafrine, VJ Yanneek, and VJ Zef. Meanwhile, the all-new Videotron Mobile stage, Igloofest’s second outdoor venue, will also host top-calibre visual projections, and we’ll be announcing those contributors come January. Sapporo “One Piece” Contest – Back in a Brand-new Studio Hurry up and loot the cedar chests and attics of your parents’ homes, because it’s once again time to break out that kitsch one-piece gem that’s made Igloofest’s reputation as the world’s most glamorous flea-market runway of the winter season. Make it retro, make it neon, make it question the boundaries of taste, make it just short of hurting the eyes, and you’ll have a chance to win great prizes, including a truly enviable Grand Prize: a trip for two down south. So it’s worth it to look crazy for a few nights! Take note, the photo studio has undergone a makeover and moved into the Sapporo Igloo in the village. The Iglooboutique Is Open!
