The 1980s electronic music sensation, Depeche Mode, will be stopping in Toronto for the North American leg of their tour. Their Twitter boasts that they have “been making music for 30 years” and the concerts they have sold out on their current tour prove that they are still relevant in today’s music industry.
The Toronto tour stop is booked on the Sunday evening of Labour Day weekend (Sept.1) at the Canadian Molson Amphitheatre. Bat For Lashes – a female British indie pop singer – will be opening the performance. While she has a strong fan base, Depeche Mode has millions – perhaps billions – of fans around the world.
In fact, Q Magazine named Depeche Mode in their list of “50 Bands That Changed The World!” and dubbed them “the most popular electronic band the world has ever known.” VH1 ranked the British band in their “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”
It’s a small wonder they have gained such critical acclaim when all of their albums thus far have made it into the UK charts, some debuting in the top slot.
Depeche Mode is celebrating their thirteenth successful album release, Delta Machine, with this worldwide tour. They have bookings nearly everywhere – from the United States to the Czech Republic, Ireland to the United Arab Emirates. The tour started in January of this year, but will continue on far into 2014.
