It’s no secret that Canada is a diverse country, and Toronto is famous for being one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Every summer, the Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival celebrates Caribbean culture with live music, performing arts, visual arts, cuisine, and so much more! Every aspect of the beautiful culture is showcased around the city for three weeks for all Torontonians to enjoy. The festival is widely referred to as Caribana by locals and several events have taken place since the official launch earlier this month.
Immerse yourself in the Caribbean’s music culture at the Harbourfront Centre on Civic Holiday. Calypso STARS is a two-hour music show that will be taking place from 4p.m. to 6p.m. on Monday, August 5th. The event features 2013 Calypso Monarch Macomere Fifi who will bring her charisma to the stage alongside Redman, Guney, Susan G, Structure, and Connector. But wait, there’s more. Sheldon Skeete, 2012 Calypso Monarch of Great Britain will also be making an appearance at this year’s Calypso STARS. The show will be like nothing you’ve seen before, with steelpannists, traditional Caribbean drumming, and of course, calypso music.
