You can’t walk around downtown Toronto without witnessing one of Toronto’s many buskers performing on the street or in a subway station. But if you’re anywhere on Yonge Street between Queen and College this weekend, the number and variety of buskers you will see will blow your mind. And that’s because Toronto’s BuskerFest will be taking place, during those four days, performance artists from musicians to mimes to daredevils, magicians, clowns, and people with many other talents, will be showing off their skills.

This festival took place all day, from noon till 11 pm on Thursday and Friday, today from 11 am till 11 pm, and tomorrow (Sunday) from 11 am till 8 pm. But because it’s all about busking, unlike events usually, there is no advance performance schedule for BuskerFest, and performances will be popping up spontaneously all around the parameter of the festival. Nor will there be a price for any of the performances, because, after all, busking is all about the audience determining what the artist should get based on his or her performance.

However, there will be two planned benefit shows along with the spontaneous performances. The first one will be a fire show on the Scotiabank Stage on Dundas Square, at 9:30 pm tonight. This event will feature a stunning, not-to-be-missed fire poi act by the Fire Guy, along with Dream State Circus, Seb Whipit, Pyromancer, PyRomeo, and Sauruses.

The second benefit show will be the Grande Finale, which will feature some of the best international acts, as well as the street performer who receives the most audience votes. This will be taking place on the Scotiabank Stage, at 6:30 pm on the last day of the festival.

The four-day festival also includes events for families, where, in Trinity Square Park, kids can have their faces painted and enjoy many activities such as hoola-hooping and paddle-boating.
