When anyone mentions going on a beach getaway, Montego Bay, Jamaica is in the top ten on anybody’s list. It’s not surprising because there’s something for everyone in Jamaica and it’s the ultimate getaway.  From the wonderful cuisine to the thriving nightlife, we can see why Jamaica is quite the place to be no matter what time of year it is. In the spirit of vacation, here are six must visit Montego Bay places to check out.

1. Margaritaville

Margaritaville is on the top of our list for a reason. This Gloucester Ave strip is a must see attraction. There’s lots of clubs, shops, bars and it’s an atmosphere that you have to experience to believe. You’ll make lots of new memories in Margaritaville and you’ll be reminded of them every time you see a margarita.

2. Sand at Doctors Cave Beach

This is the old location of The Groovy Grouper and they entice you with the great view while you sip on drinks. The water is so clear that it looks like something straight out of the brochure. Sand at Doctors Cave Beach is one of the spots that make you want to sit forever and bask in all its picturesque glory.

3. Jamaican Bobsled Café

“New York Style” pizza isn’t what you would expect in Jamaica but that’s what the Jamaican Bobsled Café is known for. The centerpiece of this place is the large clock counting down to the next Winter Olympics. For a small fee you can even take a picture in the 1988 Winter Olympic team’s winning bobsled.

4. Pier One

Pier One isn’t only notorious for their Seafood Sundays and Reggae Sumfest events, but it’s one of the most affordable bars. They have cheap drinks and great live music that makes you never want to leave. This is one of those places to go for a chill island experience without worrying about burning a hole in your wallet.

5. Scotchies

This is one of the most popular places recommended by locals to check out. If you need somewhere to go to eat after all that partying, look no further than here. They have jerk that everyone is talking about. Scotchies has been featured in numerous magazines and even on the Travel Channel.

6. Blue Beat Ultra Lounge

Technically Blue Beat is a part of Margaritaville but it has its own vibe. If you like jazz and upscale martini bars, this one is for you. Blue Beat neighbors Margaritaville and sits right on the Montego Bay harbor. Hear local bands, dance to the in house DJ, and they even have comedy nights. You never know what you’re going to get into at Blue Beat but you’ll be ready for it.
