Canada Day 2013 Events

On July 1, 2013, Canada will be having its 146th year. On that day there will be a celebration all throughout the country. Fireworks, barbeques, and parties to name some in Toronto. It will be a very long and busy weekend here are some event that you can join.

 

CHIN Picnic

This is the largest free multicultural picnic in the world and the good thing is that this is for free. The event will be held in Exhibition Place Toronto and will run from June 29 to July 1, 2013. During the 3-day event, different activities will be held. There will be hundreds of performances and shows and there will be bazaar.

Activities on June 29 and 30 will start at 11am and as early as 8 am on July 1. On June 30 the Miss CHIN International Bikini Pageant 2013 on the Bandshell Stage at 2:30pm. There is also a Hispanic Festival at 5pm with a wide variety of performances from our Hispanic friends on the Better Living Building International Stage. Shopping Bazaar starts at 11am on Better Living Building. Pony rides and zoo shows will be held all day on West Grounds Midway starts June 30 until July 1. A fireworks display would light up the sky on Saturday night of the event. On the second day there will be a Chinese Festival (12pm-3pm) and South Asian Festival (3pm-10pm) on the Bandshell stage. A Polish Festival (1pm-3pm) and Filipino Festival will also be held on Better Living Building International Stage during that day. On the final day a Portugese Festival which will start at 12pm will be held at the Bandshell Stage.

Electric Island Party

The Electric Island is a four part summer music festival. This event was made possible by the 3 producers.

Platform which started producing events since 2006, Footwork Nightclub, the famous nightclub in Toronto ranked as #36 in the world by DJ Magazine, and Embrace which promotes tours and concerts across North America.

The first of this 4-part series was on May 20, 2013 and now they will be back for the second run of the event on July 1, 2013. The event was booming with a sound system from Sennheiser.

The event last May 20, 2013 was rocked with the 12,000 Watts of bass and you can expect more this July 1. The food will be taken care of P&L Catering.

Tickets are now being sold for $17.50 and $23.50 if you want to buy tickets bundled with a ferry ride. You will be entertained for 8 hours+ of great music by the lineup of feature artist including Guy Gerber, Audiofly and Sasha.

The event will start by 1:00pm until 10:30pm. Electric Island is a great event for those who want to spend the long weekend on an outdoor space or for those who just want to go on a picnic with their family and enjoy great music on the island.

Digital Dreams Music Festival

The only multi-day electronic dance festival, Digital Dreams Music Festival is brought to you by Electronic Nation. The event will be held on June 29-30, 2013 at The Flats at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre.

Digital Dreams are proud to present their lineups. The Grammy Awards nominee Paul Van Dyk, Doctor P, Boris, and Wolfgang Gartner plus more. The venue would be composed of three stages, Dream, Echo Beach and House of Boom. The crowd would surely be entertained with great music remixes and original tracks from great artists. Tickets are soon to be sold so for those who still don’t have tickets you can purchase online at Ticketmaster. Tickets are priced at 249$ for Tier II and $149 for Tier IV. The event will start at 3pm on both the first and second day. Just a quick reminder for those who will go to the event, any outside foods should be wrapped and sealed properly upon entering the venue and any glass containers are strictly prohibited. Digital cameras may be bought but not DSLRs or other professional cameras. Digital Dreams Music Festival is perfect for those who want dance all night during Canada day long weekend.

Canada Day at Mel Lastman Square

The Mel Lastman Square will be very busy during Canada Day. There will be a variety of musical performances, family activities and fireworks

On normal days, the square is a quiet place where everyone can go, enjoy and relax. The square hosts various activities throughout the year and Canada Day will be one of that. On July 1, the square will be filled with live music and dance performance to entertain people. The event will start with music performance and kids’ crafts that will start 5pm. A performance by Zero Gravity Circus titled Under the Big Top will start at 5pm. You will also be entertained by a Hoop Dance from Lisa Odjig. There will also be a performance on 6pm by NorthbuckKrumping. You will be serenaded by the hits of Derek Miller Band on 9pm and for the finale, a fireworks display will light up the sky at 10:15pm. Everyone is invited to the event. And for those who are looking an affordable way to celebrate the Canada Day, then this the perfect place since admission is for free at Mel Lastman Square Canada Day celebration.

Toronto Ribfest at Centennial Park

Canada Day is a long weekend for everyone and this is also the time for family to bond and enjoy the holiday. Toronto Ribfest is a perfect event for the whole family to attend to. Toronto Ribfest at Centennial Park is an annual family-friendly celebration from June 28 to July 1.

This is dubbed as the “Largest Canada Day Weekend Celebration”. Every year great bands and lots of entertainment in the event. There will be a Kidz Zone during the event where the little ones will be entertained by magicians, face painting and more. On the opening day the stage will be opened with Vynyl Candy. There will be a “Time for War Fitness Boot Camp” at the Rotary Pavilion area. There will be a Heroes Day on June 30 where there will performances from the Scottish Regiment Band, Military Cadets and Toronto’s Calendar Fire Fighters. Not only the great performances are famous on this event but also their wide array of menu. Some of their ribbers are Hawgs Gone Wild, Bibb’s BBQ, and Texas Rangers BBQ. All kinds of festival foods are served and there are also Halal foods available. Toronto Ribfest is a charity fundraiser of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke.
