Spring is officially here so that means festival season is slowly upon us. The countdown is on for enjoying music from your favs, with your friends eating some of the best food that TO has to offer. We couldn’t keep the scoop on these festivals to ourselves so in the spirit of sharing here are some festivals coming your way that you might want to save up for.
Pride Festival
Pride Festival is a festival of inclusion and this year’s “You Can Sit With Us” marketing campaign is a big sign of that. There will be a parade, a Dyke March and a Trans March. Pride celebrates everyone of all ages, sexual orientations, gender expressions, identities and ethnicities. There’s always celebrity appearances, lots of parties and this year Justin Trudeau has planned to make an appearance making him the first Canadian Prime Minister to do so. Check here for all the scoop on Toronto Pride.
Ever After Music Festival
Ever After Music Festival isn’t just a festival it’s a fantasy experience. It’s for people who loathe the real world and it’s kind of like the festival of festivals. Adventure Club, Cashmere Cat, Zedd, Flosstradamus, Dillon Frances and Zomboy are just a few performers to bless Bingeman’s Fairgrounds on June 4th and 5th. For more info on tickets and the lineup please help yourself.
Field Trip
Field Trip seems to get bigger and bigger every year. It’s Toronto’s downtown community music and arts festival that takes place at Fort York and Garrison Common every year. The 2016 lineup includes Santigold, Robyn, The National, Ra Ra Riot, Lennon and Maisy and Jazz Cartier just to name a few. If you want to make it your mission to catch all the acts, good luck with that. Good news is because this a family affair, kids under 12 are free with any adult ticket purchase. For more info please do check out Field Trip’s Official Page.
North by Northeast (NXNE)
North By Northeast is the North’s version of South by Southwest. From June 15-19th Toronto Canada is flooded with celebrity appearances and concerts. After 22 years of NXNE, the party is getting a little bigger. They’ve officially added Port Lands as a venue for the festival experience. North By Northeast is like a festival within a festival. There will be live music, lots of parties and expect big headliners. Tickets aren’t on sale yet and the headliners are a secret for now but for all info on North By Northeast stay tuned to Love This City and the North By Northeast Official Site.
Mississauga Waterfront Festival
Mississauga Waterfront Festival is a weekend of free family fun at Port Credit Memorial Park. Last year included dancing, skating, food, festival rides and so much more. From June 17-19 expect to spend the entire weekend at Mississauga with friends and family. Even Kira Isabella performed last year. The lineup isn’t up yet but we can’t wait for the deets. Check out their site to stay update with Mississauga Waterfront Festival.
Digital Dreams Festival
One word to describe Digital Dreams is epic. Last year’s lineup with insane and this year isn’t any less insane. Armin Van Buuren, Above and Beyond, and Bassnectar are a few headliners this year. July 2nd and July 3rd, The Flats at Ontario Place will party from 2pm to 11pm. There are so many performers that at the end of the promotional flyer it just says “and many more,” because no one really knows who will pop up at Digital Dreams. It truly is a dream-like experience that you don’t want to wake up from. We’re going to keep you in the loop on all things Digital Dreams. For ticket info do check out their official site.
Bestival Toronto
June 11th and 12th Woodbine Park is Bestival. Expect performances from The Cure, Odesza, Art Department, The Wombats, and so many performers that it can and probably will turn into an all day affair. Also there’s an inflatable church, circus troupes, a Day of the Dead Cocktail Bus, and a costume party and parade. They honestly had us at Cocktail Bus. To get your hands on tickets click here.
It doesn’t feel like festival season yet because of the cold weather and what not but it’s a great time to start saving up for your favorite so you can drop some cash on tickets for you and friends to have a great time. What festival are you looking forward to the most?
