Kristen Stewart starts in this Utopian sci-fi movie which centers around a human emotion being removed from citizens. One of the citizens begins to contract emotions also known as “Switched on Syndrome. ” The movie is described as a futuristic love story where emotions aren’t just frowned upon but can have you killed. It also stars Nicolas Hoult, Bel Powley and Guy Pearce.

2. Kill Your Friends

Another Nicolas Hoult film is a story of an up and coming London A&R executive who is determined to make it during the 1990s.  This is described as American Psycho set in the music industry and is a dark comedy centered around being the anti-hero.

3. The Lobster

Imagine having to pick your soulmate in forty five days or risk turning into an animal. That is pretty much the premise of this Yorgos Lanthimos filmmaker’s film. This stars Colin Farrell as the guy looking for love who risks becoming a lobster if he doesn’t find love. John C. Reillly, Lea Seydoux and Rachel Weisz also star in this weirdly interesting film.

4. The Martian

This Matt Damon film centers around an astronaut who gets unknowingly left behind and fighting to stay alive on another planet while his crew thinks he’s dead.  The movie also stars Kristen Wiig, Jessica Chastain and Kate Mara. This adaptation of “The Martian” gets a bit weird but that seems to be on trend right now.

5. The Program

Stephen Frears is no stranger to making controversial hard heading movies. The filmmaker’s “The Program” is no different. “The Program” is loosely based on the Lance Armstrong doping scandal that led to him being disqualified. The movie stars Ben Foster as Lance, Chris O’Dowd as a journalist and Lee Pace as Bill Stapleton.

6. Victoria

Before even hearing the premise of Victoria, I was impressed. The 140-minute movie was shot in one unbroken shot. Filmmaker Sebastian Schipper created this masterpiece centering around a Spanish ex-pat who after getting picked up by a guy outside of a Berlin nightclub, finds herself the getaway driver for a surprise heist.

7. Where to Invade Next

Michael Moore is at it again. His latest project is about the military industrial complex that the United States seems to have. The documentary has been under wraps for quite a while and Moore says that he thinks the Pentagon needs to step back from wars for quite some time.

8. Black Mass

Black Mass stars Johnny Depp. Some might say that’s enough to get someone to watch as is. Depp stars as Boston gangster and FBI informant Whitey Bulger. Bendict Cumberbatch plays Whitey’s brother and even Kevin Bacon and Dakota Johnson show up in the film centering around Bulger’s affiliation with the FBI and the mafia.

9. Legend

Tom Hardy stars as Ronald and Reggie Kray, the notorious East End gangsters who terrorized London in the 60s. Emily Browning, Taron Egerton, and Colin Morgan also star in the mob film.

10. Our Brand is Crisis
