On September 6th expect to end your weekend with a bang! If you leave Molson Canadian Amphiteatre without laughing once, we’re questioning your sense of humor. Oddball Comedy Fest is taking over for the night and doors open at 5pm. The show doesn’t officially start until seven but expect it to be packed! Aziz Ansari and Amy Schumer are headliners and that alone should encourage you to buy your tickets like yesterday. Jay Pharaoh (Saturday Night Live), Nick Kroll, Michael Che, Katherine Ryan, Mark Normand, Jim Norton, Donnell Rawlings, and Anthony Jeselnik are set to bless the stage with their funny. You won’t have to question if they’re worth the ticket price either because Funny or Die is hosting this madness of comedy. There will be beer, food, wine and popcorn so you’ll have everything you’ll need. You’ll need to quench your thirst after laughing so hard. Do bring all you friends but don’t bring your phone out during the show because people will boo you and security will put you out. Do stay the entire show because if you leave before 11pm you’re bound to miss something hilarious. You don’t want everyone else who’s seen it filling you in because that’s just ridiculous. Get your bang for your buck and watch these guys and gals give you a show worth remembering. In the words of Aziz Ansari “Treat Yo Self.”
If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know who Aziz Ansari is (we’re sorry). You’ve been missing out on life. This guy has been making America laugh for years. Popular for playing the role of Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreation, he makes people laugh with ease and he’s not afraid to laugh at himself or others in the room during his stand-up. His latest comedy special got the stamp of approval from Neflix. Ansari has sold out Madison Square Garden on numerous occasions and not many comedians can say that. He knows funny so never question Ansari’s lack of funny.
Amy Schumer was the perfect choice when it came to headliners. She’s currently basking in all the glory from her recent movie Trainwreck which she starred in and wrote. She didn’t win NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” but she shows you don’t have to place first to actually win. She’s currently producing, performing and creating comedy for her hit show Inside Amy Schumer. Right now the world is kind of in love with her thanks her passion and persistence for the world to hear her comedy. She’s unapologetic with her comedy and that’s what makes Amy so darn special.
This is the Oddball Comedy festival’s third year and they’ve been touring all over the continent with no signs of ending the funny any time soon. This is a good time for anyone that loved Parks and Recreation and was sad to let it go and also folks who want to discover new comedy favorites. The hardest decision you’ll have to make now is which one of your friends are you taking with you and what are you going to wear?
