The Pan Am Games is one of the world’s largest multi-sport events that happens every four years for athletic members of the 41 nations of the Pan American Sports Organization. The Games comprise a mix of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games sports, as well as traditional Pan American sports. The Pan Am Games is expected to draw 10,000 athletes and officials and features 48 sports. Everything officially kicks off on July 10th and you’re going to want to be there! Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased here.
Here are some things to look forward to for this year’s Pan Am Games.
One of the best parts of the Pan Am Games is the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony celebrates sports and cultures and the Cirque du Soleil will be performing. Also check out the Parade of Nations and the lighting of the Cauldron. All this takes place at the Pan Am Ceremonies Venue.
PANAMANIA is a 35 day festival centering around all things art and culture. There are over 250 performances and exhibits and some of them are free! Love This City TV knows that the only thing better than really good art is really good free art. Expect dancing, singers, and everything in between. If it’s art it’ll be featured in PANAMANIA. All the pandemonium starts July 7th and the official opening ceremony is July 10th.
You’re going to want to be at CIBC Pan Am Park for “Where Art Meets Sport.” This is a free event running from July 11-25th and involves two stages with live music and roaming performances from the likes of Keisza to USS. Every day is a party with someone new and it’s all in the streets. You can check out the performance schedule here. Grab a friend and make sure you go at least once.
