The band was established in 2011 and their debut single “Little Talks” went quadruple platinum and their debut album sold more than two million albums worldwide. The indie folk, pop Icelandic band has performed at festivals all over the globe from Coachella to Glastonbury and if you haven’t heard from them, it’s obvious that you’re purposely living under a rock. Rejoice if you already have tickets because this show sold out quickly.

Death Cab for Cutie is rocking Sony Centre for The Performing Arts May 7th at 9pm. This alternative rock band has eight albums under their belt. How many bands can say the same? Their recent album “Kintsugi” is described as an honest and emotional album. They put everything into their performances. There’s no wonder why most of their shows are sold out.

Zoe Keating and her one-woman orchestra are jazzing up Church of Holy Trinity on May 8th at 8:30pm. Listening to Zoe play is like listening to a little piece of heaven. She captivates audiences with her cello and foot controlled laptop. Her self-released debut album sold 35,000 records and she has quite the following with her 1.3 million Twitter followers. It would be cliché to call Keysha Freshh as breath of fresh air but it’s true! Keysha penned her first full song at age five and has been working hard at perfecting her craft ever since. She’s sang the national anthem at many Toronto events and she’s a community leader standing up for Autism. All of that and the girl makes good music. Talented female MCs are scarce now a days and Keysha is here to bring it. She’s bringing her freshness to Revival at 1pm on May 6 and Painted Lady at 8:30pm.

    Jazz Cartier is Toronto Hip-Hop. The 21 year old has a lot to rap about he’s lived everywhere from Houston to Barbados and even Kuwait. His music is generating waves through words and no gimmicks. He’s said numerous times he has his own sound but he wants to be the next Drake. He’ll be performing May 7th at The Garrison at 12AM and May 9th at The Danforth Music Hall. Pretty soon folks south of the border will be talking about this guy.

Anastasia A doesn’t exactly believe in knocking on doors, she knocks them down. She has a powerful voice and her music style is comparable to Tove-Lo and Tori Kelly. She runs and operates her own independent label to control her sound. Anastasia has performed alongside acts like Rebel Coast, Tyler Shaw and Neverrest. There’s no wonder that everyone is talking about her and her beautiful voice. She’s a pop powerhouse and in no time the world is going to know about her. She’ll be performing Thursday May 7th at Hard Rock Café at 11pm. Buy your tickets now so you can be the on talking about her before everyone else is.

Kardinal Offishall has been hot since the 1990s when he first popped up on the underground hip hop scene. The Canadian rapper and producer is focused on getting MCs to get back to the music and the lyrics. He’s not afraid to tell you he’s a conscious rapper and he lives for the art. He’s so dedicated to getting back to the music that he signed on as the Creative Executive Director of Universal Music Canada’s A&R Team. Kardinal wants to find the next big thing. Check out his showcase at Phoenix Concert Theater on May 6th at 8:00pm.

  • The Steady Rebels

Canadian group The Steady Rebels are an eight piece alternative reggae group with inspiration from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeeplin and Jimi Hendrix just to name a few. Their music sounds like friendship and the mixture of jazz, blues and funk is enough to carry you away. They’re known for winning Humber College battle of the Bands last year and their single “Gravity” is making waves on Youtube. Their showcase is May 6th at Brovine Sex Club at 1AM. Even before the five years of professional vocal training by Paula Griffith, Victoria had quite the voice on her. One listen to her rendition of Adele’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” and you’ll see why this girl is a powerhouse. She’s a newcomer to the pop scene but she sounds like a seasoned veteran. Her single “Yesterday” has a beautiful message and she’s into sharing her gift of music. She’ll be sharing that gift at Underground Garage on May 5th at 10pm.

    Canadian rapper Kaydee says Drake may have knocked down the door for the Canadian hip-hop scene, but there’s more to Canadian rap than just Drake. Kaydee hails himself as the best kept secret in the city. He’s well known for his freestyle capabilities and in 2012 he made more folks listen to his lyrics when he dropped his “90s Baby” mixtape. People are finally starting to get on the secret of the city because he’s rapping alongside Joey Bada$$ at the Flood Mag Showcase. He’s a lyrical storyteller and if you’re interested in listening to what he has to tell you can nab tickets to one of his many shows. He’ll be at Tattoo on May 7th and The Danforth Music Hall on May 9th. With three performances (May 1st), it’ll be hard to miss this guy.
