IGLOOFEST MONTREAL 2015 | AN EXPERIENCE TO REMEMBER

1976958_794301410624925_7248473899558513916_nThe 9th edition of IglooFest, an outdoor music festival,  brought to you by the same creators of Piknik Electronik, wrapped up 12 nights of the best DJs, both local and from around the globe this weekend. With an estimated attendance of almost 90, 000, this years event, sponsored by Jaugermiser and Sapporo, continued to break previous years’ attendance records.

This time of the year is a favourite in Montreal, where thousands of locals and travellers from abroad, come together to celebrate electric music at this icy Canadian event. You know there is something special about this event, when fans will endure temperatures of under -30 degrees Celsius to gather for this day after day over the last 4 weekends. It’s the kind of cold that shuts down your cell phone – even when it’s at 100% battery power. But, it’s the energy and the pulse of the crowd that powers up those in attendance and lets them enjoy every moment of this musical winter wonderland.

The atmosphere is something of a dream with the snow, the stars in the sky, and the ice sculptures with logos of the sponsors towering into the night sky like skyscrapers. The central focus is the massive stage with an incredible digital display of visuals – home to the line-up of over 100 DJsplaying beautiful deep, sexy tech house.  Performances from Loco Dice, Blond:ish, M.A.N.D.Y, Tiga, and Dubfire drew thousands of devoted music lovers who danced the night away.

This northern festival offers more than just music. The thousands of music lovers got a chance to indulge in some fun with a wide array of activities. From a giant 3 tandem slide, to dressing like sumo wrestlers while partaking in a friendly game of our country’s favourite pastime hockey, there was no shortage of memory making moments. It was also a sight to see and hear the inspired fans create their own music following digital beats being projected on a wall. It was hard not to catch a vibe with all the creative juices that were free flowing when surrounded by DJs whose sets were accompanied by Beaux Dégâts’s live art show with artists Irone Axe & Woodland Creatures to represent the brand. The night oozed with imaginative artistry, if you weren’t drunk from sipping on your fav choice of drink,  then you would certainly be flying high off the explosive expression of montreal culture.
