With summer coming to an end, all of us are trying to squeeze in the last few events of the season to make summer 2014 an unforgettable one. Embrace, Coda & Platform definitely knew what they were doing when they put together the final line-up of the Electric Island Concert Series of 2014. Returning to the island for the second year in a row is Tale of Us and Hot Since 82, who will be headlining alongside Jamie XX and local DJs Terence Kissner, Gera, Members Only and Simon Jain.
At the Canada Day edition of Electric Island, we spoke with Life & Death label boss, DJ Tennis, and asked him about the creation and meaning of Life & Death’s music. Tale of Us is the definition of why Life & Death is one of the biggest and most influential underground labels in the world. With remixes like ‘Primitive People’ and so many other tracks that are blowing up everywhere around the globe right now, we couldn’t ask for more of a suitable set to be included on the final day. Hot Since 82 is a favourite of Toronto’s electronic music scene and is expected to have even more followers to head to the island to hear his highly anticipated set. Last year, the UK DJ dropped his remix of Green Velvet’s ‘Bigger than Prince,’ which was one of the hottest tracks of the year, so we are all wondering which bangers he will share with us this year. Coming straight from a US tour, Jamie XX will be stopping by to join us, which we can easily predict will be one of the hottest acts of Electric Island history and easily one of the top line-ups of the summer in Toronto! We all know the talent that Canada is pumping out and we are confident our local DJs will keep the island bumping all day.
Join us September 1st for Electric Island Labour Day Edition, and we promise you this will be the one party not to miss! We will have all the highlights and interviews for you. For tickets and information, visit www.electricisland.to. See you all there!
