What To Do This Week

Happy hump day! We know that the middle of the week is the hardest to get through—which is why we have compiled a list of events for you to look forward to for the rest of the week! Ready? Let’s go!

Make today smoky with some meat sandwiches from the Monarch Tavern while enjoying the acoustic sounds of Danny McGuire. If you were stuck on the highway on Monday and missed the Farm City Farmer’s Market, worry not, Nathan Philips Square has you covered with live music and a fresh market on Wednesday. Maybe you’d prefer to laugh it up instead atSecond City’s Spring 2014 Mainstage Revue, “Sixteen Scandals” featuring satirical sketches, songs and improvisations from Toronto’s premier comedy troupe.

Dave & Buster’s invites you to eat, drink and play (and watch sports) on Thirsty Thursday. Don’t feel like playing?Perhaps you want to help Mötley Crüe retire as they take on their last tour this summer. If you’re into heavy metal, don’t miss your chance, get your tickets now.

Friday’s big movie premiers include Into the Storm, another look at just how fierce Mother Nature can get; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael, master Splinter and Ariel. Need we say more? and The Hundred Foot Journey where Oscar winner, Helen Mirren playsa chef proprietress of a classic French restaurant, Le Saule Pleureu which is forced to ‘compete’ with a new Indian restaurant, the Maison Mumbai.

... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot has been put on hold

Speaking of food, Canada’s largest street festival, Krinos Taste of the Danforth begins on Friday. Not only will there be a ton of food, song and dance, but you will get a chance to go for a new world record – the most people performing the long jump and the largest tug of war tournament in history. You could also win a trip to Olympia, Greece. Can you say: “Opa!”

While some people can’t get enough of Greek food on the Danforth, others can enjoy watching the Jays game (vs. the Tigers) at Rogers Centre on Saturday. Not far from the Rogers Centre is Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre where you can explore South America’s biggest country with the Expressions of Brazil festival. Take pleasure in the arts, cultural and culinary events.

Which brings us back to“wind-down” and “recovery” day, Sunday. This week we recommend the Universal Grill, Live Organic Food Bar and Starving Artist for your Sunday patio brunch.
