Osheaga DOs and DON’Ts

The weekend of Osheaga on August 1st to 3rd is coming up and you will want to be fully prepared for Festival de la musique et des arts Osheaga, or just Osheaga (Music and Arts Festival).

While emerging artists and stars like OutKast, Arctic Monkeys, Lorde, Chance the Rapper, Serena Ryder and the Kooks take up one of the five stages at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, make sure that you have checked off and are ready to check off the following:

DOs and DON’Ts

DO: Study hard. No, we’re serious. There’s nothing worse than attending a concert and not being able to sing along—even if it’s just in your head. Listen to artists you’re not fully familiar with. We know the Osheaga list is long, so just pick a few at random. Who knows, you might end up adding someone else to your “fan mail” list.

DON’T: Drive there. That’s right, no DDs (Designated Drivers) needed. Public transit is available so let everyone have fun. Even if you intend on remaining sober, it’s a 3 day “marathon” and you will be tired. Better safe than sorry.

DO: Take tissues and baby wipes (or some wet cloth of sorts). Can you day pot-o-potty when the TP and soap run out? Right.

DO: Explore all stages. You studied hard, might as well make new discoveries.

DON’T: Eat too much before you get there. Prepare to eat at one of the many food tents onsite or gobble down some of the free samples they give away for…well, for free.

DO: Dress comfy (we said it before, we’ll say it again). Don’t forget, you can still look cute.

DON’T: Let the summer rain catch you off guard. Bring a poncho just in case. If it doesn’t rain, you can use it to sit on while resting.

DO: Stay hydrated. A water bottle is a must.

DON’T: Forget to smother on the sunscreen.

DO: Hashtag! It’s called INSTAgram for a reason. Use it! And Tweet!

ABSOLUTELY DON’T: Leave your ID, cash or ticket behind

Most importantly, remember why you went there in the first place—have a blast!

Now that you have the basic festival etiquette down, check out our Osheaga Wardrobe List so you can be ready for realzz!
