There are many exhibitions taking place for a limited time only:
1) Francis Bacon and Henry Moore: Terror and Beauty
From April 5th to July 20th, 2014, the works of popular 20th-century artists Francis Bacon and Henry Moore are being shown together as one collective exhibition at the AGO. Terror and Beauty revolves around each artists’ own experiences during times of trouble, such as the London Blitz and World War II. The AGO features over 130 pieces of Bacon and Moore’s work, ranging from photographs, drawings, sculptures and more.

2) Fan the Flames: Queer Positions in Photography
The AGO made its contributions to WorldPride 2014 with the opening of Fan the Flames. Created by queer artists and subjects from Canada and all over the world, Fan the Flames focuses on emphasizing the usage of photographs and videos to document the expression of identities throughout history. Works by Claude Cahun, Zackary Drucker & Rhys Ernst, Catherine Opie, Will Munro and more have been included in the exhibition. It’s also only showing from June 18th to September 7th, 2014, so check it out while you still can!

3) Manasie Akpaliapik
Canadian sculptor Manasie Akpaliapik’s exhibition recently came out and he’s having his work shown for a year at the AGO. Born in 1955 near Ikpiarjuk, Nunavut, his culture and upbringing influenced the works he produces. Faces of different creatures are present throughout his pieces. He sculpts using bone, ivory and stone and they reflect his personal concern for the Arctic and its fragile environment.
