And the Kardashians…no, this time it’s the Jenners!
That’s right, in two days, Kendall and Kylie Jenner will be co-hosting this year’s 25th MuchMusic Video Awards (MMVAs).
Every year the MMVAs—the biggest street party of the year—bring it, literally! Crazy (good) performances, special eye-catching outfits and grander than grand red-carpet entrances will be the talk of Toronto’s Queen Street West on Sunday.
Two words have often been used to describe the show: Unpredictable and Outlandish. Therefore as the day draws near, more and more questions arise.
What can you expect this year? Your guess is as good as ours.
Besides Billy Talent and their WWII Sherman Tank entrance of 2005, we’re still waiting for someone to ‘out-entrance’ them. Katy Perry came pretty close when she rolled up in an ice-cream truck in 2010. Plus she handed out real ice cream treats to her fans.
The line-up includes The Weekend and SonReal (to name a couple of presenters) and performances by Lorde, Ariana Grande, Sam Roberts Band and Imagine Dragons. We wonder who will out-do Lady Gaga’s flaming bra routine from 2009.
Among those nominated are Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Beyoncé & Jay-Z, Pharrell (we sure are “Happy” about that), Selena Gomez and of course, our beloved, Justin Bieber. Drake and Hedley go head-to-head with the majority of nominations this year. Who will snatch up the most hardware?
Lastly, the most sought after award of the night, Video of the Year. Will your FAVE nominee take it home?
One thing is for sure, the standard has been set and the level keeps rising.
So unless you have your wristband ready, be sure to keep your eyes glued to your screens on Sunday, June 15 at 9E/6P on Much, CTV and CTV GO.
