Is anything better than some Cali. sun and a sandwich? Absolutely not! Just kidding, but if you live in Toronto, you MUST check out California Sandwiches. Do you ever have one of those days when you’re so hungry that you just want to eat something so calorie-filled, piping hot and messy? If you do, you have to check out one of California Sandwiches’ locations (http://californiasandwiches.com/locations/). These dirty sandwiches are definitely calorie-filled, piping hot and messy, but WHO CARES because they are absolutely delicious.
At California Sandwiches, there are so many sandwich options to choose from- veal sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, eggplant sandwiches, meatball sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, steak sandwiches and veggie sandwiches, to be exact. Personally, I get the veal sandwich pretty often and it’s so rich and yummy. Even though the sandwich is pretty huge and after I devour it I know that I’m full, I actually miss the sandwich because of how good it tasted. Not only is the meat amazing, but the bun is fresh, the sauce is flavourful and the temp. is HOT. The place is great because since it’s a fast food restaurant, I can just pick it up and leave or go with a couple friends and just munch on some goodness (depending on the location). Even though I get the veal option 99% of the time, I’ve also had the chicken and veggie (when I was a vegetarian for a week, that didn’t last too long…) options as well and those two are pretty good bites, but what one will prefer obviously comes down to his/her own personal preference. It’s really funny because I remember I used to get grossed when my parents used to pick it up for dinner when I was younger. I was grossed out by the way my mom’s and dad’s sandwiches looked. But that all changed once I took my first bite of a Cali. Sandwich just a few years ago, I mean, now I am addicted. In fact, there is one right by my house and whenever I drive by, I always find asking the same questions, “Should I get it?” “Is it worth the calories?” “Do you really need it?” The answers somehow always seem to be, “Yes, you should get it”, “Yes, it’s worth the calories” and “OF COURSE, I need it!”.
Even though I’m not a picky guy (when it comes to food) anymore, I find myself constantly struggling to try something new for the first time. Therefore, you could only imagine how I felt about trying veal. I was with a friend of mine and she said something like, “Aaron, you have to eat this! Please! You’ll love me forever” and even though I was petrified of the messy-looking thing, I still ate it and had to run back inside to get myself the same thing. Ever since that day, my life has changed and I am always looking for a Cali. Sandwich so I can go and pick myself up some tasty goodness. If you’re ever in the mood for something so sloppy and weirdly delicious, pick yourself up a California Sandwich, you can’t not love it.
