TOP 10 Most Haunted Houses in the World

Below are listed the ten most haunted houses in the world. And yes, they are real.

1. Blickling Hall – Norfolk, England

Dubbed one of the most haunted buildings in the world, due to one yearly visitor. Blickling Hall is apparently visited every year by the spirit of Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth I and second husband to King Henry VIII. Beheaded for adultery, she apparently makes her hauntings on the anniversary of her death every year, carrying her head with her.

2. The Whaley House – San Diego, California

This house was built in the mid 1800’s and was the piece of land where Yankee Jim Robinson was hung in front of the public. There was also the deaths of many of the Whaley family over the last century. People have seen the windows open and close from the outside and ghosts hanging out on the porch. It has been named one of the most haunted houses in the US.

3. LaLaurie House – New Orleans, New England

Back in the day, used as the house of Madame LaLaurie who tortured and belittled her slaves, she was one catch of a woman (or so everyone thought). The house was set on fire and the family left town immediately. Bought many many times by people over the years but no one has ever stayed because of “strange” events and sightings. Its currently used for high end apartments but it’s still one of the most haunted places in the world.

4. Rose Hall – Jamaica

In the late 1700’s, this house was used as a sugar cane plantation. During the time of slavery, Annie Palmer was one heck of a woman. Cheating on her husband with slaves, that lead to poisoning her first husband and killing two others, she’d also kill her own slaves. Given the name, the White Witch, she had many evil endeavors, which lead to her slaying. Now her soul, along with the people she murdered, haunts the grounds.

5. Deane House – Alberta, Canada

With the story of James Dean, having been killed in car crash, the Deane House is the match of his car on wheels, in house form. The house was built in 1906 and had been moved a few times, until it was used as a boarding house. A few major tragedies, including a husband killing his wife and himself, have left the place to be an extremely haunted place.

6. Borley Rectory – Essex, England

An already haunted site when the house was built in 1862, this house was dubbed the most haunted house in England. Damaged in a fire then destroyed completely in 1944, there have been many many testimonies of odd activity and has been claimed one of the top haunted houses in the world.

7. The Myrtles Plantation – St. Francisville, Louisiana

Clark Woodruff was in an affair with a slave named Chloe, when all went wrong after she was caught eavesdropping. Chloe had her ear cut off by order and she forcefully then poisoned the wife and kids of Mr. Woodruff. She was then hung and body dumped in a river. Chloe, along with the Woodruff family, has been known to haunt the building, which is now a bed and breakfast.

8. Rolling Hills Asylum – Bethany, New York

Built to be an Insane Asylum, this building has had different uses throughout the years. It is currently a research centre for the paranormal, but has been a mall and a museum as well. People have had contact numerous times with different spirits, including a 7-foot tall man who has been caught on camera.

9. Tower of London – London, England

A huge tourist attraction in London, of course, being an extremely haunted building. This building has dealt with 1000 deaths over 1000 years, all during time with royalty. Mentioned before, Anne Boleyn apparently haunts this building, and its such a powerfully haunted place that animals are scared to enter.

10. The White House – Washington, DC

Yes, this is one of the most haunted buildings in the world, even if its used daily to house the President of the US. Many many years have passed and the White House remains, and with being a president comes responsibilities, never leaving is apparently one of them. Past presidents and their first ladies have been known to haunt the premises, but not in a harmful way.
