LTC: You have played in Toronto several times, how would you compare the music scene in Toronto and the musical community to others in the world?
BEN GOLD: Its alive and kicking, that is for sure. I’ve played The Guvernment three times now, also Koolhaus and the Veld Festival, which for me last year was one of the highlights. I love coming to Toronto, it has an amazing trance community with so much love and passion for the music and the scene, and its shows in the energy that the crowd give back to you whilst performing. Its one of my favorite cities to play in the world!

LTC: What are some hobbies your fans would be surprised to hear you enjoy?
BEN GOLD: I played Football (Soccer) all through my youth. I don’t get the time to play anymore, so I make up for it by watching as many games on TV as I can.
LTC: There is a shadow hovering over the music scene and rumors of artists being in it for the money and their sound becoming too commercial. How do you manage to stick to your own original sound and how would your describe the pros and cons of commercialism.
BEN GOLD: Each artist to their own. I’m really happy doing my own thing, playing and making the music that makes me wanna dance, makes me happy, makes me smile; its the music I love. This scene in general is becoming very commercial, and with that, people wanna earn a quick buck. Does that mean the artist will sustain a lengthy career? I’m not too sure, but each to their own. I focus on my own career, i don’t monitor whats going on around me anymore. Too many artists have gone a 360 on their sound, for whatever reason, its a new artist every week thats releasing a “trendy” record.
LTC: Can you tell us of any upcoming projects or collaborations.
BEN GOLD: Can I? Hmm, I don’t think I can, although I would LOVE to tell you! I have some exciting projects coming up. all will be revealed soon!
