Wrap up the month of July by spending this Thirsty Thursday, July 31, downtown at the sixth annual Hart House Craft Beer Festival.
A historic site and architectural gem in its own right, Hart House is one of the earliest and most beautiful student activity centres in the country, located at the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus.
What sets this festival apart from the many other beer festivals of the summer is its patriotism. Toronto beer lovers are given the chance to quench their thirst with a carefully selected choice of Canada’s finest craft brews. But that’s not all, to ensure that your stomachs are sufficiently lined and ready for beer consumption, Marco Tucci, Executive Chef of Hart House, Marco Tucci, will be there to prepare mouth-watering BBQ food that you can feast on.
Come rain or shine, the walls of the quad will be lined with beer from emerging breweries such as Kensington Brewing Co. and Spearhead Brewing Co. Some of the city’s favourites will also be featured to offer you some familiar tastes. From the filtered, light bodied lager, brewed specifically for Toronto and aptly named (416) courtesy of Amsterdam Brewery to the delicate floral aromas of Ontario’s first certified organic larger by Mill Street Brewery. Participating breweries will be introducing some of their new surprise products as well, so you better get in line.
Also returning to the “show” is a session of ExBEERiential Learning by Master Cicerone Mirella Amato. The one hour beer tasting workshop guides you through the craft beer tasting experience.
Included in the ticket price are 8 sample tickets, the “all you can eat” BBQ and a souvenir in the form of the take-home sampling glass to keep the memory alive and remind you to go back next year.
History, beauty and beer! Real value for your money, eh?
