Honda Indy Races into Town Next Month
You don’t have to be the biggest car enthusiast to watch races especially when downtown Toronto is converted into a 2.84km (1.75 miles) street course with eleven turns. From June 12-14 expect racing and so much more. The weekend is expected to go by just as fast as the cars on the track. There will be lots of food, racing and stunts entertainment. Even expect a beer festival in the midst of all the racing. Ontario craft beer brands like Amsterdam and Muskoka will have you covered in the beer department.
Food trucks like Pizza Pizza, Hank Daddy’s Barbeque, and so many more will be there to entice your taste buds.
Thirteen races in three days is beyond impressive. Veteran racers Sebastien Bourdais and Mike Conway had quite the crowd to see them crowned as last year’s winners. 2015’s crowd is expected to big bigger than that. This year the epic race has found a way to rebrand themselves by including more Toronto history and there’s even a Fan Friday where admission is free in exchange for a small Make a Wish donation.
Some of the races sound more than thrilling. The fan favorite Energy Formula Off-Road race is returning with high jumps and a crazy street course. Car enthusiasts will rejoice to know that last year’s Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge is back with semi-professional drivers racing in exotic cars. Robby Gordon’s Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks will fly twenty feet off the ground with the crazy monster stunts. Those are just a few of the exciting races. Expect lots of beer and gourmet food, and food trucks.
Pre-Race festivities began at 3:00pm Sunday June 14th and you’re not going to want to miss any of this. Show up and watch as the racers introduce themselves before making their way around the track. If you blink, it’ll pass you right by. You’ll want to watch the entire thing and it’ll have your heart racing. On the last day experience victory in its greatest form and celebrate with the winners at Victory Circle.
The fan area features games, vehicle displays and a little history. Also stop by the Pit Stop Challenge and test your skills by taking the challenge and see what it takes to change a real race car tire in record time. The fastest time gets a real prize. Get to these events early because expect a huge crowd.
