There is so much more to music festivals than the music. We’re not talking about the over-priced beer or countless ounces of Purell. We’re talking about the bigger picture, the greater experience, what you take with you long after the DJs have left and your sunburn has faded. We’re talking about the experience and the memories. And that is exactly what Electric Island is. An experience
Right from when you are walking up to the gates you hear the beats echoing from the main stage automatically putting you into that good vibe mood. You start dancing before you even enter the grounds. You look at your friends and you all have the same look of excitement.
This past Civic Holiday weekend Electric Island operated out of The Portlands on Commissioner Drive just like Canada Day. Two stages with different sounds and different vibes. Various merchants offering everything from clothing to jewellery to creative island style drinks.
On the main stage were Mano Le Tough, Jonathan Rosa, Nature of Music, KiNK and Nina Kraviz while on the second stage tucked away creating a whole other experience was Deetrong, DAM-FUNK, Greg Gow, Addy and Jeremy Scott.
If you haven’t yet attended this summer you still have one more chance. The grand finale of Labour Day weekend. A 2 day experience to close out the season and keep us wanting more until next year. Oh, and they are finally back to the spot we all love and miss. That’s right. The Island.
